Hi, I’m Emily!

Second-generation doula, birth photographer, midwife assistant, and owner of Open Arms Birth Co. Birth has always been part of my life’s story (I was even named after the midwife who caught me!). ✨

I grew up in a big family of 15, (my mother had all but 5 of us at home!) and now have four little ones of my own, so I know just how unique and meaningful every birth can be. I’ve supported more than 200 families in both homes and hospitals across West Michigan, and three of my own babies were born at home! Those experiences shaped the way I show up with compassion, understanding, and deep respect for every choice you make.

When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me reading a good book, going for walks with my kids, tending to my chickens, soaking up the sunshine at the beach, laughing with friends, or enjoying a cozy romcom.

I’ve trained in Spinning Babies, Fat Birth, Stillbirthday, Body Ready Method, and more; but what matters most to me is that you feel seen, heard, and supported. Your story matters. However your birth unfolds, I’ll be there to hold space, cheer you on, and help you feel cared for every step of the way.
